For this home tour, we will be looking at the Jare Dom home project, an impressive sustainably built home in the countryside just outside Krakow, Poland. It is bedecked with smart solar panels which have been both installed on the house and in the enormous yards, so living luxuriously is not as expensive or guilt-ridden as it once was. But speaking of luxury, this house has an enormous pool, four bedrooms, two living rooms, a staircase made of cherry wood and a conservatory! Read on!

The conservatory

Welcome to the living room conservatory of light and stars! Set off the backside of the house, this lounge space is private yet open, with a dramatic A-frame made nearly entirely of thick plate glass, dark beams and rafters so you get all the benefit of hanging outside--sunlight, sky, stars and twinkling moon--without all the nonsense--bugs and bad climate. It is of course climate controlled!

Peek-a-boo kitchen

Dining room and kitchen have an interesting relationship in this house; instead of either a completely open plan or a complete partition, two thick, nifty walls of hard woods have been strategically placed to create privacy for both kitchen and dining room, while still allowing for continuity via the large square cut out counter in the wall looking onto the dining table. It is a thoughtful design that considers that some folks might prefer a bit of seclusion between these two areas, although this may not be the trend at the moment.

The staircase

The simple elegance of this staircase comes quite straightforwardly from the chunky, high-quality, knotty cherry wood, medium polished for a warmer look. Glass panels serve to widen and open this otherwise narrow space as it reflects light and images like a mirror. Lastly, subtle yellow spotlighting peppers the stairs, both guiding your footsteps and highlighting the materials of the staircase.

An outside for entertaining

Everything about the outside of this house is stately and skilful, from the raised, grey brick patio that spans the length of one side of the house, to the beautiful landscaping to the palatial pool, large enough to fit fifty people. If you owned this house, you might be tempted to have a big shindig even if it is not usually your style. But even aside from parties, how wonderful would it be to chill on one of those lounger chairs and read a book in the twilight after a hard day's work? We love it!

Quite an entrance

This front entrance is fantastic because it is so unexpected; with the luxury found everywhere else in the home, you would expect the front entrance to be large but the reality is far better: beautiful brown tones of marble stones cover the front facade, framing a modest, square-shaped front door entrance, covered high up by the A-sloped wooden roof. It is understated, top-notch architecture at its finest!
