Here at homify360, we love to see original twists and refreshed versions of traditional concepts. This can come in many forms, of course, one of which is the reclaimed colonial estate home that’s turned modern and fresh with new finishes and contemporary decoration.

The real challenge is whether the design team can maintain enough of the original charm while still giving the home a life and personality of its own that satisfies the needs of the current inhabitants. If the team can pull this off, you know they are exceptional at what they do.

Today we will be exploring a 1700m2 home that pulls off this balance with flying colours thanks to the designers at Célia Orlandi por Ato em Arte. It is certainly an abode that is nothing short of lavish and contemporary, but many details that fit seamlessly into the current look also reveal a good deal about traditional Brazilian culture and rustic styles.

Contemporary rustic interiors

From the start, we can see that the home possesses many aspects that help to maintain a sense of cultural richness in the home, yet it still feels modern and contemporary. The wooden door and stone archway along with the exposed rafters give the home a rustic sense of warmth. Meanwhile, the elegant orchids, white furnishings, and high ceilings make the look sophisticated and airy.

A dining room with baroque features

The dining room is equally as elegant, though it changes the vibe and gains this look with the help of baroque style décor. The antique dining room chairs and delicate brass chandelier in particular help to make the room beautifully old school. The style goes splendidly with the arched double doors, which open out to a terrace and lush yard.

Provincial master bedroom

The bedroom is decorated in provincial style thanks to the antique furnishing and colour scheme incorporated throughout. There is plenty of natural light permeating the room. This is largely due to the fact that much of the room is white, and this colour helps to better distribute the sunlight filtering in through the doors. We also love this royal chaise because it gives the room a romantic feel.

Indoor spa room

One of the more modern and luxurious elements of the home is this spacious spa area completely with a large Jacuzzi. The grey colour scheme and dim lighting create a relaxed atmosphere. The furniture is oriented so as to face the windows, which plays up the presence of nature in the space. This is a smart move on the part of the design team because nature aids in relaxation.

Spacious patio

Outside there is a large patio complete with an outdoor kitchen. This space is perfect for entertaining guests and enjoying the fresh air. There is plenty of seating available for outdoor gatherings. Because the patio is situated beneath a large veranda, gatherings here are possible no matter the weather.

Pinnacle of modernity: an infinity pool

The patio yields to this ornate infinity pool. It is located amidst plenty of greenery to allow for a more immersive outdoor experience. The pool itself is enormous and modern in shape and style. The home successfully meshes the comforts of modern amenities that make the home a relaxing retreat with the charming elegance of more traditional decoration.
