Playing with colours is a matter of balance and precision, failing which a garish look can overpower the strengths of a well-designed space. The talented team of interior architects at Auraprojekt in Lublin, Poland, surely kept this in mind as they set out to this tiny and dull home, a remarkable transformation. Prior to the makeover, the apartment was a lifeless space which lacked personality, originality and even basic aesthetics. There was an urgent need to usher in modern decorative and design accents, to transform this boring shell into an inspired living space which would attract young professionals and trend-conscious homeowners. The importance of comfort and functionality was also adequately considered by the architects.

Before: Dull Grey in the Living Room

The dull colours and contours of this living area were clouding the actual potential of the space available, which could easily be designed to produce exceptional results. The grey couch and the mundane flooring hardly helped in readying the space for relaxation or entertainment.

After: Neon Shades to the Rescue

The bright pops of colour and updated modern furniture gave the living space a much needed dose of panache. The neon hues have managed to heighten the exclusivity of the decor, instead of overpowering it, thanks to the balanced approach followed by the designers. The slim shelf offers space to display knickknacks while the quirky bright yellow adds a dollop of unexpected fun.

Before: The Kitchen was an Eyesore

The kitchen was void with no style to speak of. It was cluttered and far from welcoming. The space was in desperate need of some design intervention so that it could be better utilized and become more inviting.

After: White and Bright Offer Relief

The designers have managed to play with the bright blue lighting and the white walls in a perfect way that keeps the space looking young even as it exudes an underlying elegance. The square glass table and the yellow and black lamps compliment the design scheme. The kitchen as you can see from here, is now a smart and organised space, armed with sleek and glossy cabinets to hide the clutter.

Before: All Television, No Entertainment

The entertainment zone in this corner initially seemed to be in a perpetual ‘switched off’ mode. The dull beige wall and the white frame made for a lacklustre look as the unsightly cables offended the eyes.

After: Hot and Happening

The entertainment centre is now a designer delight with a zany neon effect in two colours, while the gleaming television takes centre stage. The white frame on the wall has been kept intact in a bid to accentuate the neon hues within while anchoring the entire look.

Clad in drab colours and holding an empty promise as far as style went, this home required a design overhaul which the architects delivered with precision and a neon touch. The abode, despite its tiny size, is now a chic space with a cosy urban appeal.
